Heated cable provides a path for melting ice to leave a roof so that it is drained properly
reducing ice buildup. Ice buildup can cause water to back up against and under shingles,
tiles or metal roofing materials, causing damage to both outside and interior walls.
Ice formations can split downspouts or if formed on roof edges can fall and injure people or
cause costly property damage.
Roof and Gutter Deicing Cable Commercial Heat Cable System
Roof and gutter cables are installed on both new and retrofit projects
Most roof and gutter deicing projects include automatic sensors that sense moisture in the gutters
and air temperature.
Typically a single run of heating cable is installed in the gutter. Wider gutters and/or larger roof lines
will have two or more runs of heat cable. More heating cable is also required when placing the heat
cable to eave/overhangs in a typical zig-zag pattern.
All downspouts are heated to complete the heated drain path. It is important to place the heat cable
below the frost line when installing in the downspouts.
Multiple voltage products are available and the cables have a limit to the installed lengths. See chart below.

Self Regulating (SR) Cable 120 to 240 Volts 5 and 8 Watts/Ft
Delta-Therm self-regulating heating cable increases heat output as temperature decreases, and
conversely, decreases heat output as temperature increases. This cable is intended for roof and
gutter applications.
Description
Industrial Series cables contain two parallel bus wires electrically connected by a web of PTC
( positive temperature coefficient ) conductive polymer. A thermoplastic elastomer jacket surrounds
the cable to provide mechanical protection and electrical isolation. The tinned copper braid
provides additional mechanical protection as well as ground path for fault currents. The
thermoplastic( T ) overjacket has UV inhibitors which protect against damage from the sun.
The overjacket also provides mechanical protection.
Applications
Roof and Gutter De-icing.
Approvals CSA Wet: IN Series CBT cables are CSA certified for roof and gutter applications
(2E Cable Designation) when used with PCK-RG connection kit
This cable is designed for roof and gutter applications and must be
installed by a qualified electrician. Improper installation can result in property damage,
serious injury, and/or death due to electric shock and fires.
